Abstract
1,192,867. Gripper apparatus. DRUCKMASCHINENWERKE PLANETA VEB. 30 May, 1968, No. 26046/68. Heading B6C. In a sheet gripper mechanism mounted on an impression cylinder the gripper tongue 7 is connected to a gripper cradle 2, freely rotatable about a gripper shaft 1, through two parallel leaf springs 5 so that the movement of the tongue to its clamping position is in two parts during the first of which the tongue moves in a circular path about the axis 19 of the shaft 1 and during the second part of which the tongue moves in a direction perpendicular to the sheet bearing surface 18 of the cylinder. The cradle 2, and therefore the tongue 7, is biased to clamping position through a spring 8, and during the first part of the tongue movement the shaft 1, which is moved in a clockwise direction throughout the entire movement, is followed by the cradle until a lug 9, which is attached to the cradle, abuts a stop screw 10 on the cylinder. During the second part of the movement, during which the cradle remains stationary, an abutment 11b, fixed to the shaft, moves away from a spring arrangement 12, 13, 15, to allow the leaf springs 5 to move the tongue 7 towards the surface 18 and into clamping engagement therewith.
