Abstract
1,192,551. Spheroidal graphite iron. INTERNATIONAL MEEHANITE METAL CO. Ltd. Aug.3, 1967 [May 4, 1966], No. 19759/66. Heading C7D. To maintain or restore the degree of spheroidization in iron which has been treated with magnesium, there is added to the molten iron a calcium-carbonsilicon composition containing in percentage by weight: - carbon up to 60 silicon 20 to 80 calcium up to 30 iron balance, if any. Preferably the additive is used in amounts of 0À15 to 0À20% of the weight of the iron; it may be added in conjunction with a solution agent such as a fluoride of calcium, barium, strontium, sodium, magnesium, potassium or aluminium, the latter being used in amounts up to 20% of the amount of the additive. The latter may be used in the form of powder, or as a shaped element placed in the path of the iron when poured.
