Abstract

1,190,794. Evaporators, film type. C. F. ROSENBLAD. 17 July, 1967 [13 Sept., 1966], No. 32751/67. Heading B1B. [Also in Division F4] An evaporator 10 comprises a first set of sheet metal baffles 47 of inverted V cross-section which deflect liquid, e.g. pulp-cooking liquor to be heated and/or evaporated, from nozzles 41, 42 onto a second set of baffles formed by the welded seam portions 46 of plates 16 from which it flows in a film down channels 19, the other channels 17 formed by the plates 16 being supplied with a heating fluid. Each baffle 47 is held in triangular holes of T-shaped members 52 which rest on adjacent seams 46. Successive members 52 in each row thereof are staggered. The plates 16 are separated by spacers 18 and held in a casing including plates 11, 12, which are bolted together. The concentrated liquid 26 is collected in a chamber 25 whilst vapour separated by a baffle 27 is discharged through a pipe 29. Some liquid 26 and fresh dilute liquid are recirculated through the evaporator.
