Abstract

1,190,496. Parametric amplifiers. MARCONI CO. Ltd. 17 April, 1969 [21 Aug., 1968], No. 40015/68. Heading H3B. [Also in Division H1] The bias supply of a varactor diode 8, forming part of a parametric amplifier, is fed through the inner conductor 2a of coaxial line 2 and the " doorknob " 5 of an impedance transformer, the latter being insulated from waveguide 1 by a layer 6 of dielectric material. The diode is mounted in a signal cavity 4 and is coupled by the doorknob transformer 5 to a circulator 13 of which branches 14, 15 provide respectively the input and output ports of the amplifier.
