Abstract

1,189,814. Carburetters. ENERGY TRANSMISSION CORP. May 19, 1967 [Sept.14, 1966], No.23481/67. Heading F1B. A carburetter comprises a housing having a combustion air inlet 37 and a discharge opening 15, a first mixing chamber 40 within the housing, means 44 supplying a metered quantity of liquid fuel to the first mixing chamber, means 38 supplying a separate stream of fuel entraining air to the first mixing chamber, a secondary mixing chamber 32, into which both a mixture of fuel and entrainment air from the first mixing chamber and a separate stream of combustion air are discharged, means 48 in the housing for conducting combustion air from the combustion air inlet to the secondary mixing chamber independently of the fuel entraining air baffle means 22 within the secondary mixing chamber for preventing non-atomized fuel from passing out of the secondary mixing chamber, through the discharge opening 15, while permitting the merged streams of air and atomized fuel to do so and means for introducing (a) the mixture of fuel and air from the first mixing chamber and (b) the combustion air into the secondary mixing chamber in coaxial relationship. The larger the air flow the higher will be the position of the air bob 47. Means 54 links the fuel metering valve 46 and the air bob so that the quantity of fuel flowing is controlled by the bob.
