[Also in Divisions B8 and G1] An apparatus for dispensing measured quantities of liquid, semi-liquids or gaseous material, such as medicaments used in veterinary medicine comprises a plug 1 rotatably mounted in a housing 3 and provided with a bore 6 in which is slidably mounted a diaphragm 14 the plug being rotatable between the position shown in which liquid flows from an inlet passage 4 into the bore and a position in which the bore is aligned with ports 4a, 5a, so that the liquid may be discharged via the port 5a through an outlet passage 5. The liquid to be dispersed is contained in a pressurized vessel, such as an aerosol, which may be connected to the housing 3 by means of a bayonet connection 11, 11', a screwthread or hinged spring arms; a seal 10 is provided for engagement with a valve (44 Fig. 5) in the supply vessel. The plug may be rotated between its alternative positions by means of pivoted lever (35 Fig. 4) engaging with an eccentrically mounted pin (33) on the plug and adapted to be moved manually; the pin 33 may be replaced by a gear and rotated by a rock. The outlet 5 may be connected to a discharge tube 12 provided with a cap 13, or the tube may be replaced by a hypodermic needle. The amount of liquid dispensed may be varied by adjusting the position of wire mesh stops 15, 15', for the diaphragm or by replacing the plug 1 by another having a different sized bore 6.
