Abstract

1,188,743. Shelving; stands. JOSEPH CHAK-FAI CHIU. 2 July, 1968, No. 31605/68. Headings A4B and A4H. A shelf support structure comprises a bracket 130 cantilevered from a hollow post 50, the bracket 130 having vertically spaced, arrow shaped, rear end projections 137, 138 which pass through slots 53, 52 in the post 50 to be then slidably engaged behind a longitudinal channel 51 in the post 50, and includes a support member 60 which is slidable along the channel 51 to support the bracket 130 at any selected height. The support member 60 comprises a screw 61 which engages a nut 62 having a cylindrical base which passes through a circular part 58 of the slot 52 and an oblong portion 63 which slides in the channel 51. The support clamps on the post 50 when the screw 61 is tightened. The inner end of the bracket may be shaped (Figs. 7, 10) to effect an inclination of the bracket when engaged with the post. Shelf ends may be releasably fastened between flanges 132, 133 of the bracket. Alternatively (Fig. 23), shelves may be secured by clips 65 on the upper flanges 132. In another embodiment shelves 75 are secured by clips 65 to brackets radiating from a central post 50 which may be rotatable about its vertical axis.
