Abstract

1,118,248. Racks; shelving. AMERICAN GREETINGS CORP. 27 July, 1966 [28 Jan., 1966], No. 33734/66. Headings A4B and A4H. A stand in which merchandise can be displayed in different arrangements comprises a storage base A, provided with drawers 45, 46 or sliding doors, and an upright support assembly B which includes vertical posts 41 mounted at the rearward corners of the base by brackets 40 and each having a longitudinal slot 57, and interchangeable display units detachably secured to one or both of the base and upright assembly and including a peg board the side edges of which are slidably received in the slots 57, the peg board being removed when it is not required. The posts have slots 43 for selective engagement by angularly adjustable shelf brackets, or the end members 61 of a tiered display unit C, having horizontal racks 60, are supported by the base and uprights. In a further arrangement a halfwidth tiered display unit is supported at the top by a slotted bar, secured to the tops of the posts by a U-clip welded to the bar and engaging in the posts or by a lug on: the bar engaging a slot 43 of each post. The bar may include a lighting fixture. The racks 60 may present a concave display front or have vertical or horizontal dividers. Stands may be arranged side-by-side or back-to-back and end members for the stands have slotted uprights to receive shelves or hanger rods.
