A cabinet or like storage unit housing drawers or shelves, Figs.4 and 5, comprises an enclosure defined by front and rear parts 40a, 40b, a frame 42 disposed within the enclosure and provided with notches (42c, 42d), to receive the edges of the parts 40a, 40b, a band 44 surrounding the enclosure around the frame 42 and provided with grooves 44a, 44b which receive flanges 40d, 40e on the edges of the enclosure parts 40a, 40b, bolts 50 which clamp together the band 44, parts 40a, 40b, and the frame 42 and also serve to secure the cabinet to a support, and arms 52a-d bolted, as 54, to the frame 42 to support drawers or shelves. The bolts 50 may secure the cabinet to the tubular pedestal 32 of a desk. Drawers 60 may be detachably fitted within a rectangular frame 56d forming a part of a telescopic drawer guide assembly 56. In another embodiment, Fig. 9, the cabinet is fitted with shelves 8 slidably mounted on rollers 82 carried by support arms 52, the cabinet being mounted on a wall between a pair of brackets (70) each having upper and lower arms 70a, 70b and each bracket (70) having plates 71 with keyhole slots which engage headed studs 71a on the wall. A plurality of cabinets may be mounted on a tubular pedestal of a desk Figs. 13 and 14 (not shown). In a further embodiment, Fig. 15, cabinets are arranged in columns each having a surrounding frame 94, 96 supporting a table top 100 and secured to feet 98, 98a by the bolts which secured the cabinet parts together. In a further embodiment, Fig. 19, a desk supports a cabinet 38 at one end and is fitted beneath its opposite end with an extension 110 for supporting a typewriter, the extension 110 having a top 112 which is pivotally mounted beneath the desk top 30 or a vertical axis of one end and is supported at the opposite end by a leg 114. In a further embodiment, Fig. 25 (not shown), a drawer is formed by rigidly securing together parts as shown and bolting a separate, moulded plastics front 140 to a front piece 144. This drawer is detachably received by a rectangular frame forming a part of a telescopic drawer guide.
