Abstract

1,188,716. Carpet dyeing. VEPA A.G. 19 Sept., 1967 [9 Nov., 1966], No. 42600/67. Addition to 1,157,737. Heading D1L. The apparatus of the parent Specification (which comprises a pad dyer, steamer, washer and hot air dryer) is modified to include alternative pad dyers for (a) needled felts and (b) tufteds or plushes having (a) hard and (b) soft squeeze rolls respectively. As shown, needled felts pass through a padder 1 having hard squeeze rolls 2, steamer 6, suction sieve drum washers 12 and squeeze rolls 13, suction sieve drum drier 14, padder 16 (for application of bonding agent), and round the lower side of reversibly rotatable giant suction sieve drum drier 18. On the other hand, tufteds or plushes pass through a padder 3 having soft squeeze rolls, by-pass dryer 14 and padder 16, and pass round the upper side of drum drier 18.
