Abstract

1,187,995. Continuous centrifugal casting. SOC. CIVILE D'ETUDES DE CENTRIFUGATION. 25 May, 1967 [31 May, 1966], No. 24440/67. Heading B3F. In a method for the uninterrupted supply of molten metal to continuous centrifugal casting apparatus, a rotating mould 1 is alternately supplied with molten metal from a first feeding device 4 whilst a second feeding device 4<SP>1</SP> is inoperative, and vice versa, whereby the mould is provided with a continuous uninterrupted supply of metal by the successive operation of the feeding devices. The feeding devices 4, 4<SP>1</SP>, are formed of refractory material and are shaped to supply a jet 3 or 3<SP>1</SP> of molten metal respectively which impinges obliquely on the surfaces of the metal in the rotating mould. The alternate use of the devices permits one of them to be repaired whilst the other is in use. In an alternative embodiment, two moulds 1, 1 are supplied from furnaces 7, 7<SP>1</SP> by way of channels 8 and 8<SP>1</SP>, each furnace supplying one feed device to each mould.
