Abstract
1439875 Charging melting furnaces GRANGES ESSEM AB 13 Nov 1973 52719/73 Heading F4B Apparatus for supplying molten metal to two die-casting machines comprises a melting furnace 20 wtih a preheating zone 23 containing a shaker or vibratory conveyer 28 fed with scrap or ingots 25 by a conveyer 24, a closed system of passages from the furnace to the diecasting machines the start of which is shown at 21 and a level monitor 37 controlling the feed conveyers by which consumption of metal is measured and maintained. The preheating zone, furnace and passage system are heated by electric resistances 33, 34, 35 and 36. A partition 32 in the furnace prevents access of slag to the delivery passages. Each die-casting machine (10, 11, Fig. 1) is associated with a holding furnace (18, 19) and cast articles are carried to trimming stations (16, 17) from which conveyers (26, 27) carry scrap material back to the preheating zone 23.
