Abstract

In a combustion chamber provided with a waist at 3 from which the walls flair outwardly in both upper and lower portions, an eccentric fuel injection nozzle directs the, or the main, fuel jet 9 so as to be parallel to, but spaced from, one side of the chamber in the lower portion. A second jet 27, Fig. 5, may be directed towards the opposite part 28 of the upper wall portion from that of the first jet 25 and a peripheral step 20 may be provided at the chamber mouth.
