Abstract

1,186,665. Knitting machines. SINGER CO. 2 April, 1968 [11 April, 1967], No. 15821/68. Heading D1C. The needle dial 56 of a cylinder and dial machine is supported on a flat ring 80 secured to an annular flange piece 78 coupled by spokes 74 to a ring gear 72 driven from the drive to the cylinder 24 by a shaft 99 so that the dial is caused to rotate in unison with the cylinder. The flange piece is supported inside a ring member 48 carrying the dial cam sections 86 which itself is supported on a support ring 62 held by flanges 90 mounted on the machine. A threaded ring 64 screwed to the upper end of the member 48 is secured to the ring 62 and can be adjusted to vary the height and position of the cams. Consequently the faces 76 and 50 of the flange piece 78 and ring 48 provide bearing faces which are sufficiently extended to provide rigidity in support of the rotating dial driven from the ring gear 72.
