Abstract

1420117 Drying kilns BUHLER-MIAG GmbH 20 Sept 1973 [28 Sept 1972] 44279/73 Heading F4G A drying kiln has a floor 40 comprising a porous tray 4 and a supporting structure 1, 2, 3 therefor and mounted for rotation about a central axis by means of rollers 5, (6, Fig. 2, not shown). At least one drive unit 15 is provided, the or each drive unit being mounted on a variable position carrier, e.g. a plate 28, and being provided with guide means, e.g. rollers 37, 39, which co-operate with a means of the floor 40 such that, in the event of there being any lateral movement of the floor the or each drive unit is maintained in positive driving connection with the table. As shown the means of the floor 40 comprises the bottom flange 26 of a pin gear 23 with which a pinion 22 of the or each drive unit co-operates. The plate 28 of each drive unit is mounted on a respective bracket by a pin having a ball-and-socket type connection with the plate (Fig. 4, not shown) and two eccentrically mounted rollers (22, Figs. 3, 5, not shown) by which latter the angle to the vertical of the substantially vertical axis of the drive unit may be varied. The supporting structure for the tray 4 consists of two rings 2, 3 connected by radially extending carriers 3 and a guide ring 41, the floor so formed being centred about the axis of rotation by rollers 42 bearing on the guide ring.
