Abstract

1,186,291. Digital transmission systems. SIEMENS A.G. 18 June, 1968 [19 June, 1967], No. 28860/68. Heading H4P. In a digital data exchange which includes a channel, e.g. ECV, ACV, comprising a number of lines, each polarity change to be signalled marking a line combination unique to an address, the address of broadcast called subscribers and the direction of polarity change are stored within the exchange and a pulse generator having a period an integral multiple of the storage cycle duration controls transmission successively to the several called subscribers. When a signal is received on one of a number of input lines unit ECW marks a corresponding unique combination of lines in channel ECV. At the start of each storage cycle, unit ZSt examines register PR to determine the highest priority of the various demands for storage cycles held in it. A demand from broadcast control RSt has higher priority than one from unit ECW. If a broadcast connection is to be set up store sections SZm-SZm + 4 are allotted to the calling address. The address of SZm is stored in SZn. Subsequently arriving dial pulses are stored in the allotted sections and indicate the called subscribers to which to broadcast. When now a polarity change arrives the direction of change is stored in WR and the calling address is stored in AR. The address stored in SZn is transferred to WR so that WR now contains the address of the store containing the first broadcast address to be called and the polarity change. These are transferred to unit RSt, where a pulse generator having a period of n store cycles is started. The generator presents demand signals to register PR. When ZSt detects the demand in PR the address of SZm is read from RSt to AR and the polarity change is put in WR. Address counter AZR is incremented. The called first address is now read from SZm to WR. Via unit ACW the appropriate one of the output lines is selected and pulsed. At the next demand pulse from the generator the polarity change is sent to the second called address, determined by counter AZR and store SZm +1 as described above. The process continues until the polarity change has been sent to all the broadcast-called addresses. The exchange processes other polarity changes in the store cycles between broadcast demands.
