Abstract

1,185,985. Valves. H. WATTS. 8 Feb., 1968 [10 Nov., 1966], No. 50338/66. Heading F2V. Divertor valve, particularly for bath-shower fittings, comprises a casing 13 having an inlet chamber 17 communicating through a port 21 with the shower outlet 8 and through a port 23 with the bath outlet 6. A valve member comprises a plate 18 which obturates the port 23 and a flexible washer 10 of rubber or the like, slightly spaced from the plate 18 by a spacing washer 27. The valve member is carried by a stem 30 with a push button 22 and is biased toward the shower port by a spring 20. In the position shown and with, e.g. hot and cold water being supplied separately through external control valves (3, 4), Fig. 1 (not shown), the bath is supplied. On depression of the button, the flow is diverted to the shower and the valve held down by the water pressure. When the external supply is shut off the valve returns to the position shown and the flexible washer 10 lifts from a seat 11 thus draining the shower pipe. The valve may have either one or two inlets.
