[Also in Division A4] A water mixer fitting, for use with a bath and a shower fitting, comprises a housing within which is a diverter valve 14 resiliently biased by a spring supported by a removable insert 16 to a "bath" position, in which water may flow through the fitting to a bath, and manually displaceable by means of a stem 24 to a "shower" position, in which water may flow through to fitting to a shower head, the valve being retained in the "shower" position by the pressure on the valve of water passing through the fitting. The housing has a chamber 10 with an upper wall 11, apertured at 13 providing an outlet for connection to a shower head, and a lower wall 12 apertured at 15, insert 16 being screwed into the housing so that an upper insert end is seated in aperture 15 which communicates via holes 21 in insert 16 with an outlet spout 20. The spring urges a disc valve 14 into the "bath" position in which it closes aperture 13. Apertures 13 and 15 lie in parallel planes the disc 14 remaining parallel to the apertures as it moves between them. On pressing a button 23 secured to the stem 24, which is also secured to valve 14, the valve is moved into the "shower" position in which it is seated on the upper end of insert 16 and closes off chamber 10 from spout 20, and connects chamber 10 via aperture 13 with a second chamber 18 having an outlet 19 which communicates via a pipe 26 with a shower head. Pipe 26 is secured in the housing by a projection 29 on the pipe engaging in a circumferential groove 27 around outlet 19, the tube being seated into the housing by a sealing ring 32 in a second groove 31. Hot and cold water are supplied to chamber 10 from inlet conduits (4), (5) respectively, via chambers (2), Fig. 1 (not shown) containing control taps. The mixer fitting may be secured to a bath by nuts (30), Fig. 1, on conduits (4, 5) which are located in holes in the bath. Each tap comprises a knob 3 controlling a washer (6), Fig. 3 (not shown), the position of which relative to its seating (7) determines the rate of water flow from a chamber (8) to a chamber (9) which is connected to chamber 10.
