Abstract

1,183,208. Spinning. R. TSUZUKI. 6 March, 1967 [7 March, 1966], No. 10469/67. Headings D1D, D1F, D1J, D1L and D1N. In a process of feeding a sliver (or roving) from an upper floor to a drafting frame, on a lower floor the sliver is passed through a guide tube extending between the floors, with the passage of the sliver through the tube being restricted so as to straighten any curved fibres. The sliver may be restricted either by four plates co-axially positioned in the tube and spring-pressed inwardly, only a plate positioned in an opening at the bottom of the tube and optionally spring biassed inwardly and by a constriction at the end of the tube. The humidity of th eupper floor may be controlled, or conditioned air may be passed into the tube below the ceiling of the lower floor by the tube having either a perforated portion extending through a conditioning chamber or a portion of enlarged cross-section into which a feed pipe for the conditioned air extends.
