Abstract

1,183,140. Change-speed control. ADAM OPEL A.G. 30 Dec., 1968 [8 Jan., 1968], No. 61681/68. Heading F2D. The extremities of a pair of arms 14, 15 of a sheet metal shift fork 11 for a motor vehicle change-speed gear are enclosed by shoes 35, 36 of wear-resistant polyamide plastics which may be sprayed on, or pre-formed and pushed over the fork ends, the ends having inwardly facing recesses 41, 42 to ensure retention of the shoes. The axially facing surfaces (37, 38), Fig. 1 (not shown), of the shoes are part-spherically shaped to maintain uniform engagement in a groove (16) of a slidable gear shift sleeve (17) irrespective of misalignment of the relevant parts.
