1,181,710. Amino acid derivatives. MERCK & CO. Inc. 22 Dec., 1967 [30 Dec., 1966], No. 58310/67. Heading C2C. Novel γ-[α-(C 1-6 alkyl) glutamyl or aspartyl] cysteinyl-glycines are prepared by reacting an N-protected (C 1-6 alkyl) glutamic or aspartic acid anhydride with a cysteinyl-glycine which has a protected mercapto group and removing the protecting groups. Intermediate N-carbobenzoxy-α-methyl-DL-glutamic acid anhydride is prepared by reacting N-carbobenzoxy-α-methyl-DL-glutamic acid with acetic anhydride or dicyclohexyl-carbodiimide.
