Abstract

1,181,487. Vacuum distillation; short-path stills. LEYBOLDHERAEUS-VERWALTUNG G.m.b.H. 21 March, 1968 [29 March, 1967], No. 13835/68. Heading BIB. Distilland, supplied by pipe 5, is distributed by rotating elements 32 on evaporator surface 1, the vapours pass through spaces between baffles 4 and condense on cooled surface 2; liquid-spray entrained by the vapours is separated by baffles 4, the liquid collects in troughs 41, flows through spouts 42 to troughs 43 mounted on rotating elements 32 whence the liquid is returned to the evaporator surface 1. Baffles 4 are disposed so that they optically mask the condenser surface from the evaporator surface.
