Abstract

1,181,236. Hose connectors; locking nuts. BTR INDUSTRIES Ltd. 17 May, 1967 [20 May, 1966], No. 22673/66. Headings F2G and F2H. In a connector for a flexible hose 20, a nut 25 rotatable on an end fitting for the hose and screw, threadedly engageable with a male member, is provided with a spring ring 32 which extends around the nut and has a leg 33 which projects radially inwardly through a hole 34 in the nut to engage teeth or projections on the fitting; the nut is rotatable at least in the direction to engage the nut on the male member and so that the leg is engaged with a tooth or projection to resist disengaging rotation of the nut due to vibration of the connector. As shown, the nut has a flange 26 which abuts an internally tapered sleeve 22 that clamps the hose on to an externally tapered sleeve 21 provided with grooves 23. In a modification, the end fitting comprises two coaxial sleeves (41), (45), Fig. 4 (not shown), the teeth (47) being formed on the sleeve (45) and the nut engaging the sleeve (41) to which the hose (40) is attached by a clamp (42).
