Abstract

1,180,791. Hair dryers. SUNBEAM CORP. 27 Feb., 1967 [11 July, 1966], No. 9290/67. Heading A5R. A portable hair dryer comprises a motorblower-heater unit (16) housed within a portable casing 10, which casing has an air inlet 40 and an air outlet 28 formed thereon, a flexible electric power cord 25 for unit (16), an axially collapsible and expansible hose 23 engageable with the air outlet, the outer end of hose 23 being adapted for removable connection to an associated collapsible hair dryer cap 24, and casing 10 including two separate storage compartments, namely (i) a hose storage compartment 21 comprising an elongated passageway for receiving hose 23 in an axially collapsed condition, the air outlet being at one end thereof, compartment 21 also comprising an exhaust passageway within the casing, hose 23 being engageable with the casing at the hose storage compartment whereby the hose in its expanded condition delivers air from the outlet to cap 24 and (ii) a cap and cord storage compartment 22 having a size sufficient to receive cap 24 and flexible power cord 25 when the cord is in a collapsed condition for storage in this compartment. The motor-blower-heater unit (16) comprises an electric motor (17) on a common shaft with blower 18 (comprising a generally circular plastics disc 18' having a plurality of radially extending vanes 18") and also electric heater 19. Compartment 22 is provided with an access opening (26) which is adapted to be closed by a hinged or pivoted door 27 which comprises an end panel of the casing 10.
