Abstract

1,180,378. Endless conveyer belts. ASHWORTH BROS. Inc. 2 Dec., 1968 [1 Dec., 1967], No. 57060/68. Heading B8A. In a conveyer belt formed of nested members 12 interlinked by rods 14 which pass through slots 24 in the members 12, the slots 24 being elongated so as to enable the belt to negotiate curves in the plane of the belt, a series of links 16 having slots 26 engaging the rods 14 are provided at one or both sides of the belt. The links 16 on the outer side of a curve take up the pull of the load so as to relieve the members 12 of alternating bending loads. The slots 24, 26 are relatively proportioned so that when the belt is extending straight ahead, the members 12 bear directly on the rods 14 and no load is transmitted through the links 16. As shown, there are a pair of series of links 16 at each side of the belt.
