A liquid butane container suitable for re-filling a cigarette lighter is formed from a lower cupshaped portion 2 of moulded plastic e.g., polyamide and an upper inverted funnel-shaped cover portion 3 having a neck 1 and a frustoconical part 3a from which depends a skirt which is sealed to the rim of portion 2 either by welding or gluing, and the neck 1 provides a housing 4 for a discharge valve 5. The neck is threaded at 8 for which purpose the cover 3 is made of glass fibre impregnated moulded polyamide. The portion 2 is translucent thus revealing the liquid butane level.
