1,177,593. Rotary-piston pumps and motors. K. LAUER. March 20, 1968, No.13582/68. Heading F1F. A rotary-piston pump, or motor, includes a pair of pistons 4, 5 furnished with projections 6, 7 and synchronously coupled both to each other and to a rotary abutment 8 by e.g. toothed gear-wheels (not shown), said abutment being provided with a recess 9 to facilitate passage of the projections and located between inlet and outlet ports 11, 12 for the working fluid, which may be either a liquid or a gas. The pistons operate out of phase with each other, as indicated in the figure, and have a somewhat flattened portion on either side of each projection so as to ensure sufficient space for the working fluid, the latter being allowed to pass on either side of whichever of the two pistons has its projection 7, or 8, adjacent the abutment. The recess 9 has sufficient depth to permit a substantial flow of fluid therethrough while one or other of the projections is situated therein. It is indicated that two or more pumps, or motors, may be connected in parallel.
