Abstract
1,176,550. Permanent magnet generators SOC. D'ETUDES ET DE RECHERCHES MAGNETIQUES S.E.R.M.A.G. 27 Dec., 1967 [4 Jan., 1967], No. 58722/67. Heading H2A. In order to reduce the diameter of an alternator, its effective pole-number is increased by the use of two permanently magnetized interdigitated rotors spaced axially and co-operating with separate stators 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, the rotors being secured together by embedding in non-magnetic metal 24 moulded round them, and stubshafts 20, 22 projecting from the two outermost rotor discs 14, 14<SP>1</SP>. The rotor poles 17, 19, 17<SP>1</SP>, 19<SP>1</SP> are polarized by magnets 10, 10<SP>1</SP>. The inner discs 15, 15<SP>1</SP> of the rotor abut each other and are located by dowel 21. The supporting metal around the poles serves as a damping winding to prevent demagnetization by transient conditions.
