Abstract
1357688 Permanent magnet generators ELTRA CORP 20 April 1972 [6 July 1971] 18422/72 Heading H2A [Also in Division F1] The annular flange 16 is provided on its inner surface with a resilient magnetic member 18 which is preferably made of elastomeric material such as nitrile loaded with ferritic material which is capable of being permanently magnetized to magnetically energize a stator member made of magnetic laminations. The stator member has poles 20A each provided with a coil 24 to provide the stator of an alternator except that one or more coils W3 may be used for engine ignition purposes (see also Division F1). A second rotatable magnetic member 26 is provided to excite stationary timing coils 28. The magnetic member 26 consists of a permanent magnet 26A cooperating with magnetic field members 26B, 26C. The member 18 and the magnetic member 26 rotate together with the shaft 10 except that the relative angular position of the member 18 and the member 26 is capable of being varied to a limited degree by the action of a centrifugal device (not shown). In a modification three windings wound on separate stator poles are connected in series and charge capacitors of an engine ignition system.
