Abstract

1,176,298. Sealing tapes. POLYMER CORP. Ltd. 25 Sept., 1968 [3 Oct., 1967], No. 45578/68. Headings C3P and C3Q. [Also in Division E1] A heat-softening, non-curable composition suitable for making into a sealing tape consists of (a) 100 parts by weight of an elastomer, (b) 5 to 100 parts by weight of a resinous polymer compatible with (a), (c) 1 to 75 parts by weight of finely divided metal particles, (d) up to 150 parts by weight of a filler, and (e) up to 500 parts by weight of a plasticizer compatible with (a). In the examples (a) is butyl rubber, EPDM, natural rubber, isoprene-acrylonitrile copolymer, or polychloroprene; (b) is ethylenevinyl acetate copolymer, trans-polyisoprene, polyethylene, or polyvinyl chloride; (c) is aluminium powder; (d) is clay or carbon black; and (c) is liquid polybutene, terpene resin, or diisoctyl adipate.
