Abstract

1,173,524. Tower cranes. RICHIER. 24 Feb., 1967 [24 Feb., 1966], No. 9078/67. Heading B8B. To increase the height of a tower crane the tower head 3 is raised from the position shown in Fig. 1 to that shown in Fig. 3 by a ram 10 and an extra tower section 2a is inserted laterally by the load carriage 6 of the crane. The head is guided by a frame 17, Figs. 3, 6 which extends round two adjacent sides of the tower and has pivoted latches 18 and retaining rollers 29, 30. The latches 18 support the frame and the head whilst the member 16, Fig. 3, is raised by the ram 10 and the extra section is inserted. The ram cylinder is attached to a collar 9 on the head 3 by pins which facillitate removal and allow some flexibility.
