Abstract

[Also in Division G2] In apparatus, Fig. 1, for developing charge images with electrically charged dye aerosols, developer 11 is atomised by a high voltage disc electrode 10, and charged dye droplets pass through the gap in a development electrode, which comprises conducting rollers 3, 4, maintained above earth potential and thence to the charge image on a recording material 1 on an earthed conducting support 2, reciprocating on glide rails (8), 9. Strippers 17, 18 clean the excess dye from rollers 3, 4. A gas supplied to the electrode 10 from inlet 19 of insulating housing 15 increases the atomization efficiency. The development electrode may comprise more than two parallel rollers, and a ring electrode may replace electrode 10.
