Abstract

1,032,196. Electrostatically charging photoconductive layers. KALLE A.G. July 12, 1963 [July 20, 1962], No. 27765/63. Heading G2H. A layer 4 of photoconductive or insulating material is charged by a discharge electrode 1 extending substantially perpendicular to the layer 4 between auxiliary electrodes 2, 2a, a counter electrode 3 being positioned beneath the layer 4. The discharge electrodes 1 and counter electrode 3 are connected to opposite poles of a D.C. source. The electrode 1 may be replaced by a row of discharge electrodes 1, Fig. 2 (not shown) connected by a metal strip 5 or by a strip, not shown. The auxiliary electrode may be replaced by a strip 2 or rollers 8, 9, Fig. 4 (not shown). A roller 6 may form the counter electrode.
