1,172,523. Discharging and cleaning dried grain &c. from drying towers. RANSOMES SIMS & JEFFERIES Ltd. 24 Jan., 1967 [28 Jan., 1966], No. 3493/67. Divided out of 1,172,522. Heading A2Q. [Also in Division F4] The subject-matter of this specification is substantially the same as that of Specifications 1,172,522 and 1,172,524 relating to apparatus comprising a drying tower for drying granular material such as grain, but the claims are mainly concerned with means for discharging and cleaning dried material comprising a bar 106, Fig. 5, which is disposed below and longitudinally along the outlet slot 20 at the base of the drying tower and is reciprocated to and fro across the width of the slot to distribute the material on a tray 104, from which the material falls, in the form of a curtain, through a current of cooling air, induced by a pipe 144, connected to the suction side of the fan (88) Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown). The current of cooling air removes dust and dirt from the falling dried material, which is received in a hopper 102, from which the cleaned, dried material is removed by a rotating auger 136, e.g. into a silo. The slot 20 may be divided, by a plate 100, into two channels.
