Abstract

1,042,399. Endless belt conveyers. M. G. DE SAN. Sept. 28, 1964, No. 39381/64. Heading B8A. An appliance for feeding tea from a trough 8 to a take away conveyer 23, Fig. 3 (not shown), comprises an endless pick-up belt 2, perforated or porous, mounted on a support articulated to a frame 10 so as to permit a variable in clination of the belt and a suction fan 22 actuable so as to exert a sucking action over part of the belt 2. The belt 2 which may be a woven fabric or perforated plastic is mounted on drums 3 supported between side plates which form an enclosure 6 with the belt. One of the drums 3 is driven and the drum at the tea receiving end 14 of the belt is perforated to allow the suction to be applied at the belt surface at this end. The suction area is limited by a blanking plate 15 within the enclosure 6. The belt and support are pivoted at 9 to the frame 10 and are counter-balanced by adjustable weight 11 or springs, such that the end 14 of the belt rests lightly on the tea 7 in the trough 8. The frame 10 on rail wheels 18 is movable along the length of the trough and carries a further conveyer 20 transverse to the pick-up belt 2. Several of these appliances may be used, all the conveyers 20 of which supply tea to a common conveyer 23, Fig. 3 (not shown). In a further embodiment the belt 2 is replaced by a perforated drum rotatable about its own axis and eccentrically pivoted on a frame.
