A receptacle for particulate material has a horizontal or sloping floor 1, Fig. 1, with parallel rows of apertures 5 for directing air horizontally towards the outlet 4. The floor may be corrugated, stepped or slatted with the apertures in the risers or the sides of the corrugations towards the outlet. In a modification the apertures 14 are formed by louvres 15.
