Abstract

1,171,180. Scouring pads. SPONCEL Ltd. 22 Dec., 1966 [22 Dec., 1965], No. 57369/66. Heading A4F. [Also in Divisions C4 and C5] A domestic scouring pad comprises a layer of a cellosic sponge having intimately bonded thereto an abrasive surface layer comprising a mass of non-woven synthetic fibres, at least one bar of the soap or organic synthetic detergent being disposed within the pad within the bonded layers. The cellulosic sponge material may be of regenerated cellulose. There may be two layers bonded by a liquid glue solution which may be a plasticised poly-vinyl acetate/chloride, synthetic rubber, natural macticated rubber or vulcanised natural macticated rubber. In the Figure a bar of soap 3 of length less than the largest dimension of the scouring pad is arranged on the surface of a cellulosic sponge 2 that had been covered with glue and a pad 1 of non-woven synthetic fibres is laid over it.
