Abstract

1,010,935. Cleaning pads; scouring pads. UNION CARBIDE CORPORATION. Dec. 7, 1962 [Dec. 11, 1961], No. 46288/62. Headings A4F and A4R. A cleaning pad comprises fibrous, resilient batts 3, 4 joined around the periphery and containing a solid soap or detergent composition 5, and each having opposite surfaces lightly impregnated with adhesive in an amount sufficient to coat at least the surface fibres and to adhere them to each other without filling the voids therebetween, and the adhesive on the outer surfaces 8 containing abrasive, e.g. silicon carbide or aluminium axide grit. The adhesive on the inner surfaces 7 is heat fusible so that the batts may be heat sealed together at their peripheries. The fibres may be of nylon, polypropylene, polyester, rayon, cellulose acetate, vinyl chloride-acrylonitrile copolymer, acrylonitrile polymer, or polyvinyldene chloridepolyvinyl chloride copolymer. Alternatively only one of the batts is fibrous.
