Abstract
1,251,210. Sanitary pads. KIMBERLYCLARK CORP. 6 Sept., 1968 [15 Sept., 1967], No. 17704/71. Divided out of 1,251,209. Heading A5R. A sanitary pad comprises an elongated main fluid absorbent pad 44 having embedded in one face thereof a fluid control element 45 of higher density than the pad 44 so that said one face is generally smooth, the pad 44 and element 45 being enclosed in a wrapper 101a of fluid pervious material. The pad 44 and element 45 may consist of randomly disposed fibres or fluff, the pad 44 having a density of about 1.5 to 2.5 pounds per cubic foot and the control element 45 having an average density of about 7.5 to 50 pounds per cubic foot. The outer surface of the element 45 may have a pattern impressed thereon, such as rows of pyramidal-shaped depressions, the depressions in adjacent rows being staggered, so that the element has areas of higher than average density and areas of lower than average density, the density of the latter areas being higher than the density of the pad 44.
