Abstract
117,111. Harper, W. A. June 25, 1917. Multiple-way valves.-In a system of valves for controlling the circulation of brine in refrigerating systems, a plug cock, Fig. 3, Sheet 2, may be employed. The spindle carries a spring U confined between the valve cover and a washer W bearing against a collar on the spindle. Ports O, P in the plug are separated by a partition Q and are adapted to be put into register with one of several pairs of ports leading to chambers G, K; H, L; J, M. A modified D sliding valve N, Fig. 1, Sheet 4, may be employed. The spindle screws through a cover V and engages a member X having a spring Z to press the valve on to its face. The chamber P in the valve has a long extension always in communication with a port leading to the suction branch of a circulating pump. In a further modification, piston valves operated by screw stems are used.
