Abstract

1,170,894. Ground anchors; anchors for piles. SOLETANCHE S.A.R.L. 30 Jan., 1968 [3 Aug., 1967], No. 4788/68. Headings E1B and E1H. A method of anchoring a stay 2 comprising wires 3 twisted around an injection tube 4 and spaced therefrom at spaced intervals 10, the tube also having spaced apertures covered by one way valves 11, 12, 13 comprises introducing the stay into a hole 1, expanding a jacket 15 clamped to the stay at 16 and to a non- adherent sheath 6 for the upper part of the stay at 16 by introducing grout therein through one of the one-way valves, allowing the grout to harden to form a barrier 18 between the lower part 8 of the bore and the atmosphere, and then injecting grout under pressure through the valve 12 to fill the remainder of the bore, any water escaping through valve 13 which is made of permeable material so as only to be one-way for grout. More than one of the one way valves may be surrounded by an expandable jacket so that areas of the bore not suitable for fixing may be isolated. In a modification the stay comprises a rod positioned next to the tube and the jacket is secured therearound by two spaced collars. The part of the bore between the uppermost jacket and the surface is filled with grout not under pressure to protect against corrosion.
