Abstract

1,170,513. Tyres. CONTINENTAL GUMMIWERKE A.G. 5 Jan., 1967 [19 Jan., 1966], No. 718/67. Heading B7C. A green tyre of hollow cylindrical form is characterized by the arrangement of its reinforcing cords, the cords of a breaker layer of the tyre being cross-laid with respect to the cords of a carcase ply and arranged at an angle with respect to the circumferential direction of the tyre which is less than the angle at which the cords of the carcase ply are arranged with respect thereto, see Fig. 4. After shaping to the toroidal form the cords of the carcase ply are orientated such that those portions in the sidewalls of the tyre are at substantially right angles to the circumferential direction of the tyre. Those portions of the cords of the carcase ply underneath the breaker layer, and the cords of the breaker layer, also undergo rearrangement as shown in Fig. 5.
