Abstract

[Also in Division G3] To continuously match the output of a multicell rotary compressor having a crescent-shaped working chamber and employing water lubrication to load requirements, a regulating valve 9, e. g. a slide valve, fitted in a suction line 2 and operatively connected to a spring-loaded piston regulator 10 subjected to pressure in a line 5 connected to a load main (not shown) is held partly open by an adjustable screw 11 so that the gaseous working medium, e. g., air flows continuously during the whole time the compressor is being used. The compressor, as shown, an outwardly -sliding vane compressor, discharges through a non- return valve 12 into a combined cooler and water separator 8. The separated water is forced by the pressure difference in the compressor through a line 16 and nozzle 15 to lubricate and cool the compressor. A safety valve 13 is fitted in the line 5. Operating as a vacuum pump to evacuate a space connected to the line 2, the line 2 upstream of the valve 9 is brought into pressure communication with the piston regulator by a line 14.
