Abstract

1,168,906. Yarn severing device. ASAHI KASEI KOGYO K.K. 5 May, 1967 [9 May, 1966], No. 20939/67. Heading DID. In a centrifugal spinning m/c means are provided to cut the yarn and lead the end away while the cake is being doffed. As shown yarn A normally runs from a final godet 4. to the funnel 5 leading to the spinning pot. Preparatory to doffing a guide funnel 21 with rim 22 is moved across the yarn path to deflect the yarn so that it is running in front of a knife 32 mounted on a rotatable shaft 31. At the same time a liquid injection nozzle 11 is moved to the right to surround the yarn just below godet 4 (see Fig. 5 not shown). Shaft 31 is then rotated to sever the yarn, the upper end of which is directed into a funnel 21 to be lead away to a receiving trough see Fig. 1 not shown. To again feed the yarn to funnel 5 funnel 21 is moved to the left from the position of Fig. 6 so that the yarn runs in front of knife 32. The knife is then operated to cut the yarn which is directed by the liquid stream from nozzle 11 into the funnel 5 to resume spinning. The nozzle 11 is retracted from the yarn and the liquid supply stopped. Funnel 21 is moved to the right of the yarn, the rim 22 being curved so that the yarn is deflected over it during this movement. The tube (25), see Figs. 1 and 3 not shown, into which funnel 21 leads has a liquid injection nozzle therein so that the yarn is carried therealong by the liquid to the receiving trough (29).
