1433429 Cleaning machines RHONE-POULENC TEXTILE 7 Jan 1974 [24 Jan 1973 11 May 1973] 00574/74 Heading D1F In the apparatus shown in Fig. 1, yarn waste is discharged from a group of textile machines, as at 1, e.g. automatic high-speed winders, through individual tubes, as at 2, all of which open into a common discharge channel 3 through which a stream of liquid e.g. water, passes. A closed liquid circuit comprises a strainer 4 for retaining the waste, a reservoir 5 and a circulating pump 6. A channel cover 8, Fig. 3, sealed by gaskets 9 receives tubes 2 through apertures 10. Liquid flows along the walls of the channel and above the level of the main liquid stream from overflow gutters 12 and 13 or perforated pipes, Fig. 4 (not shown). In another apparatus, Fig. 5, a plastics or stainless steel channel 3 of circular crosssection (and inclined e.g. 2‹, to the horizontal to ensure liquid flow) is slotted to receive discharge tubes 2, into the upper parts 22 of which conveying tubes 25 debouch waste yarns and the lower parts of which comprise spouts 21 and funnels 24 with spaces 23 forming side escape outlets for part of gaseous fluid used to convey waste through tubes 2. Liquid is supplied from pipelines 26, impinging on a grating 27 which calms the flow and wetting liquid is supplied from perforated pipes 28 to fall as curtains on the yarns issuing from spouts 21.
