Abstract

1416339 Liq. treatment of webs C A MEIER-WINDHORST 6 Dec 1972 [8 Dec 1971] 56297/72 Heading D1L Webs are treated with a liq. at a wt. ratio of 1:10-1:50 'by passing the web 1 together with a stream of the liq. 2 through a tank 3 whilst inducing turbulence in the liq. to cause the web to move in a random sinuous manner. The turbulence may be induced by agitators 11 which are vertically movable and pivotable on bearings 12. The liq. flowing through the tank may be withdrawn by pump 15 and recycled either to duct 13 containing heater 16 or to overflow duct 14. The web and liq. may be introduced via funnel-shaped inlet 5, having a flow guide 19, preferably provided with liq. recycled by pump (7) via line (6) from the funnel (Fig. 3, not shown), fresh liq. being supplied via line (8). In an alternative form the inlet has a weir (20), (Fig. 4, not shown) over which the liq. input flows. The outlet end of the tank preferably slopes downwards (4), (Fig. 2, not shown).
