1,168,582. Tell-tale indicators for lamps. SWF SPEZIALFABRIK FUER AUTOZUBEHOER GUSTAV RAU G.m.b.H. 23 Jan., 1968 [2 June, 1967], No. 3391/68. Heading F4R. [Also in Divisions G2 and H1] A monitoring installation in a motor car comprises fibre optical cables 14, Fig. 2, transmitting light from headlamps 11 and rear lights 12 to indicating windows 16 on dashboard 15. The fibre optical cable, which may be of glass or plastics, may have a loose fitting plastics sheath (18, Figs. 5, 6, not shown) and electrical cables (31) may be housed in this sheath. A strengthening metal wire (30, Fig. 6, not shown) may be inserted in the fibre optical cable. A holder (17, Fig. 3, not shown) for the fibre optical cable, in the headlight housing (23), comprises a metal sleeve (12) secured in the housing (23) by a spring ring (22), a constriction (21) in the sleeve gripping the sheath (18) of the cable. In another embodiment of a holder (17, Fig. 4, not shown) the cable is cemented in a cavity (25) in a light conducting rod (26) having a circular groove (27) secured in the light housing (24) by a spring ring (28). Several signals from various lights may be conducted by a single fibre optical cable.
