Abstract
The rearlights or brake lights of a vehicle are monitored by light conducted along fibre optic light guides, one end of each guide being inserted into a respective lamp housing and the other end being displayed on the vehicle dashboard.
Description
SPECIFICATION
Viewlight
This is an invention of a method to prevent vehicle drivers from unknowingly breaking the law by enabling them to detect the conditions of the brake stoplights, and rearlights whilst the vehicle is in motion.
The method used is to drill a 3mm hole into the rear stoplight/rearlight housing and insert one end of fibreglass optical light guide with an optical area of 2mm (covered in a protective plastic cover) into it positioning the guide approximately +" from the light source, i.e. the bulb. The other end is brought through to the dashboard and transmitted light is available for the driver to glance at, any fault is readily observed such as light failure, flickering lights, dimmed lights and delayed lights due to faulty switches.
CLAIM
By using a glass fibre optical cable to communicate the condition of a motor vehicles exterior lighting to the interior of the vehicle.
The transported light or otherwise is viewed from a suitable holder by the vehicle driver.
