Abstract

1,168,570. Spray producers. PAILLARD S.A. 16 Jan., 1968 [13 Feb., 1967], No. 2335/ 68. Heading B2F. [Also in Division B6] A writing head for projecting a jet of ink comprises a body 1 carrying an ink nozzle 9 and deflecting electrodes 24, 25 25', (24'), Fig. 3 (not shown), and includes an outlet port 27 for the jet and inlet ports 6 for air. The body 1 is made of metal and supports a nylon sleeve 3 molded integrally with a partition 5 including the inlet ports 6 and supports a coaxial tubular member 7 to which is attached a metal annulus 8 supporting the nozzle 9. The body 1 further includes projections such as 13, 14, 15 threaded to receive a metallic clamping member 18. The member 18 clamps into place a metal ring 19, a securing lug 20 and two insulating rings 21, 22 which serve to support the electrodes 24, 25, 25', (24'). The jet of ink from the nozzle 9 is shielded from electrostatic fields by the annulus 8 and by a partition 11, through an aperture 12 in which the jet is directed. The edges of the aperture 12 are sharp, to repel secondary droplets and discharge them through a tube 28. The metal parts 1, 20 and 18 are held at the same voltage as the material receiving the ink. The ink may conduct charge to the nozzle 9.
