Abstract

1,168,182. Photo-sensitive materials. KALLE A.G. May 16, 1967 [May 17, 1966], No. 22685/67. Heading G2C. A light-sensitive material comprises a support carrying a layer containing as the lightsensitive substance, at least one 2, 2', 4, 4', 5, 5-hexa-substituted diimidazolyl (-1) compound in which four, five or six of the substituents are aryl or alkaryl, and two, one or none being benzyl, each substituent may be substituted by alkoxy, halogen or nitro groups and as binder, a resin soluble in dilute inorganic acids e.g. the condensation products of certain aldehydes and aryl amines. The layer may contain a sensitizer, e.g. ferrocene, as 0À01-0À5 parts per part of the diimidazolyl compound. The support may be paper, which may be coated with saponified cellulose acetate, and the usual metallic supports. The imagewise exposed material may be developed by washing or wiping with a dil. inorganic acid e.g. H 3 PO 4 and optionally etched to form a printing plate.
